Auricular acupuncture represents another micro-system that I will use after discussion with the patient and diagnosis. If using this system, I will use very small and fine needles to stimulate of acupuncture points on the external ear surface of the ear to treat conditions or pathologies in other areas of the body. Auricular acupuncture relies on the belief that the ear is representative of an inverted foetus with all the fine details of the body represented in the ear in the form of auricular acupuncture points.

Ear acupuncture has proven to be an efficient method of treating a wide variety of conditions, from headaches and allergies to addictions and pain disorders. Although acupuncture evolved in the context of Chinese medicine, ear acupuncture as a micro-system was developed in western Europe.

When an auricular acupuncture point on the ear is tender on stimulation it indicates that there is a pathology in the corresponding area in the body that the auricular acupuncture point represents.

I may use auricular-acupuncture as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with more traditional acupuncture points in the body. After treatment I will probably place a vaccaria seed on one of more places in the ear which allows the patient to continue to stimulate that area afterwards for instance when they feel pain.

Many conditions can be  treated with Auricular acupuncture but is particularly suitable for conditions like insomnia, depression, addictions, indigestion, autonomic symptoms, most conditions of pain, inflammation and migraines. It is also very effective for patients wanting to detox and lose weight. Some patients feel a zinging feeling in their ears and the treatment can offer immediate relief for others they may need several days or treatments before they notice an improvement.
